The Curatorial Roundtable: Christine Eyene (Liverpool)
MA Curatorial Practice presents a talk with Dr. Christine Eyene, an art historian, critic and curator. Eyene is Research Curator at Tate Liverpool and Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Art at Liverpool John Moores University. Her curatorial practice encompasses contemporary arts with a particular interest in African and Diaspora arts, feminism, photography and sound art. Since 2021, she has been developing independent research on the theme of botanical histories and colonial legacies, connecting ancestral and collective knowledge in an evergreen forest bordering the rural town of Lolodorf, in the south province of Cameroon, where she is currently building an art residence. Eyene is curator of Landskrona Foto Festival 2024’s Konsthall exhibition. Recent exhibitions include: “Seeds and Souls,” Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (2023-24); “Calling in Question,” American Arts Center, Casablanca (2022); “Breaking the Mould - New Signatures from DRC,” 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning, London (2021); “RESIST! The 1960s, Photography, and Visual Legacies,” Summer of Photography, Bozar, Brussels (2018). Her writings are published in art books, exhibition catalogues and art journals.
Drawing from two of her feminist exhibitions, “Where We’re At! Other Voices on Gender” (Bozar, Brussels, 2014) and “Sounds Like Her” (New Art Exchange, Nottingham, and touring, 2017-2020), Eyene will discuss her feminist curatorial practice from a Black perspective, and how this has enabled her to address questions of marginalization, the politics of space within art institutions, and ways to complexify feminist artistic discourses beyond visual representation through the immateriality of sound art.
The Curatorial Roundtable, an international forum for curators and institutional leaders to discuss formative and current projects, is hosted by Steven Henry Madoff, founding chair of the MA Curatorial Practice at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

I LOVE EVERYTHING SHE DOES but is anyone gonna talk about Angel saying “more please!~” LIKE DON’T GET ME WRONG ITS FUNNY but who is he saying that to😀
I’m 15 and being an artist has always been a true dream of mine and I love animation and fashion, my parents have always told me I will never make a big living off of being an artist but seeing Viv develop all these fandoms and putting smiles on peoples faces has really changed my mindset and I can’t wait to see where my art will take me❤❤
It’s my dream to get a scholarship for art and animation I’m getting ready for 8th grade but if I got a scholarship I would love to go to SVA ❤
Best of luck! Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. Hope to see you here soon!
white lives matter!
Art schools in America kindnof suck. Russia and Japan still have art colleges that teach good fudnemtnals. Watching Proko (and other good art youtubers) will Teach you way more than North American art schools
I wish I could've gone to art college. But this is America.

That’s a whole dream… wish all art schools had actually people who are interested in art and the wonders and joy one can feel while drawing. my artschool made my brain rot, first they said “no digital art! that’s cheating, blasphemy” then they gave great grades to people who were clearly tracing somebody else’s work, expecting miracles from those who drew well and were slowly falling into depression cause “you’re good, but you can do better than this, redo this whole project” not telling specifically what’s wrong… and now they’re fans of mid journey and the whole crap :(…
Were do you go that looks so amazing and I’m looking for a art College for the future
It's the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Feel free to check out sva.edu for more info. Hope to hear from you in the future. Best of luck with everything!

It's honestly literally my dream to be an animator but my sister took that dream away from me by mentally abusing me for 9 years as a kid... I seriously can't have anything anymore she took my dream of being an animator away from me and now I just don't know what to do with my life anymore cuz I can't be that without getting PTSD
Another win for Marylanders. We really make the best artists ❤❤🦀
I'm listening to this after just having read Liu Cixin's Remembrance of Earth's Past series. I wonder if sophons have been stalling advances in experimental physics since 1971? 😯
ive always wanted to go here
You should! 😉
